REALITY EN SHTICK
To the tune of “Yes, we have no bananas,” we have no video today. Or tomorrow, but maybe someday, even if I have to make it myself.
There’s a story here, and I’m just trying to get it, and tell it, straight. Nevertheless, there IS video today — if not much — as per the link listed below. Suggestion:
To placate your justifiable bummer, save this teaser ’till last.

We truly respect and admire your integrity Jim. You are an example to us all.
When in the business of preservation and interpretation of historical materials, authenticity is the word. At least I have always believed so during my time working in and managing museums both big and small. We are serving no purpose if we compromise the main event which is accurate information and true authenticity.
It is understandable that those who want to help have seen how any worthy project can achieve wide spread attention and support within today’s social net tools. I myself have expressed a desire to see you on YouTube and Facebook, two hugely versatile platforms, in order to reach all corners of the globe. I have also felt that such a presence would warrant a proper revamping of your website and branding to make the whole thing more presentable to the masses who will undoubtedly want to jump onboard. (Which is not to say that I do not love what you have already put together.)
It has been quite an interesting experience for me to listen to this particular podcast. You raise such well articulated points about the line we each draw in the sand about exactly how we want to stay true to our core beliefs and intentions. You provide a very important perspective for us ‘millennials’ who may have a taste and a love for tradition, but have been swept up in all of the new trends along with everyone else, it seems. I will come back to this podcast in my thoughts perhaps for the rest of my life. There is so much to learn from it; not the least of which is how to approach helping someone realize his personal vision. I am in that position often and presently. In fact you inspire me to get involved with what you are doing more than anyone outside of my family currently does.
Thank you for all that you do and all that you represent Jim. You are highly valued and not just for your multihull knowledge. Your perspective on the world and your unique vantage point of the multihull timeline specifically inspire us all to tote you as a hero. Your modest nature only amplifies that effect. Thank you for setting us straight!
(By the way, just so that you know who I am. I am the kid who unintentionally took over one of your phone visits with talk of kiteboarding. I have emailed with you about various things, including my desire to help out in some way, and I offered for you to stay with me in Little Compton when you visit Bristol.)
Thanks again Jim. We all hope you keep it up!
What a great little video, it sure makes me want to see the rest!
It will be a mammoth undertaking for you to learn video editing and put out something you are proud of, but you have completed many far more daunting projects.
You can do it Jim.
Thank you for your trememndous efforts to bring all of these treasures to us.
Looks like the feedback loop in the terms of the original commission wasn’t sufficiently articulated and artistic control got sacrificed. Bummer! If commitment to the project remains, then the return on investment must be a renewed and enhanced clarity of direction. That seems like a welcome asset in spite of expectations lying elsewhere.
Moving forward though, even if only for yourself, a detailed story board would seem to be in order, linking photo, video and audio files. With as much material as you have it would be imprudent to ‘wing it’ entirely. You might also consider using ‘wisdom of the crowd’ to help sketch out some of the details of placing and developing the content of your production.
Just some thoughts from an ‘investor’. Thanks to you for graciously thinking of us and to Joanna for reading all of our names. Very exciting to be part of this.
Great video teaser, Jim!
You are doing a great service to us all, on so many levels. Thanks!
